In photography, lenses often play an unassuming role in capturing the moment. But unknown to most, lenses interpret the light streaming into the camera and have an important part to play in shaping the photo. Peter Karbe, Chief Optical Designer with Leica Camera AG (since 2002), will deliver a one-night-only seminar to discuss the challenges met through the years of optics design and how Leica has stood at the forefront to maintain itself as the world's leading lens designers for cameras. Karbe, you may recall, was instrumental in the introduction of the APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH, Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH, Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH and X Vario/Vario-Elmar lenses. Using a combination that's also very near and dear to our hearts - an M camera and the Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH, Scott Morvay expands on his earlier video about this amazing lens. A down to Earth look at what makes it so unique - and challenging.
I wanted to go a little more in depth on my favorite lens from the first video. It is my favorite M lens and between the videos and picture samples you will get my personal point of view on the lens and how I use it. All pictures were taken by myself from London, Paris, Venice, and Miami.
