Leica Announces Leica Q2

Leica Camera AG today has announced the new Leica Q2 - offering a 47.3MP full-frame sensor (over the Leica Q 24.2MP sensor) capable of DCI and UHD 4K video recording. The lens remains a 28mm f/1.7 (with built-in crops to simulate other focal lengths). The EVF has been upgraded from a field-sequential LCD to an OLED panel with 3.68M dots. The Leica Q2 is the same size as the Leica Q but boasts the same IP52 weather-resistance rating as the Leica SL with a new internal structure to support weather sealing. The camera's controls have been somewhat simplified, and drive mode options have been removed from the power switch. WiFi and Bluetooth are both available and finally, the Leica Q2 gets a higher-capacity battery (also from the Leica SL), getting up to 370 shots per charge. The price comes in at $4,995 USD. Leica has announced the 28mm Summaron-M f/5.6 lens for the Leica M system. The lens is more than just a throwback to a classic design from the mid 1950s. It is a lens from the 1950s, at least optically, featuring the same design as the original. We can assume that the lens features modern coatings, but otherwise, if you are looking for a classic Leica glow, this wide-angle lens might be right up your alley. This lens is available by special order only and full payment of $2,495 USD is required in advance. Read more below for details!
