Voigtländer 50mm f/1.5 Nokton Aspherical Announced

Over on DC Watch you can see pictures of the new Cosina/Voightländer 50mm f/1.5 Nokton Aspherical in an M mount. You may recall the previous LTM version which many are quite fond of - especially for B&W. The optics are reportedly unchanged, which is great news (check out the Nokton 50mm/1.5 Flickr group). This new version appears mechanically built very similar to the original of the 1950s. Read more below for the full specs and update!

Voigtländer 21mm f/1.8 Ultron Intro

John from Robert White gives us this introduction to the new Voigtländer 21mm f/1.8 Ultron, which is just starting to reach people. We've already got a thread here in the forums filled with links to sample photos, and from what we can see it'll be a real sleeper like the 35mm f/1.2 Nokton.

APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH Shipping Soon?

We haven't gotten any other reports backing this up yet and bellwethers B&H and Adorama still list as pre-order, so it might be a glitch on Amazon's part... But they show the APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH shipping in 2-4 weeks! The price listed is $7,195 USD. As you'll recall, Leica announced a delay - but didn't specify a new release date. The new M (Type 240) may - or may not - start shipping soon also. Update: read more below - they've started to ship!

APO-Telyt-M 135mm Gains 6-Bit Coding

The Leica APO-Telyt-M 135mm f/3.4 lens ($3,495 MSRP) will now be manufactured with 6-bit coding. Besides being the last lens currently in production without coding, the new Leica M (Type 240) body will make it easier to use such lenses (since it offers live view, focus peaking and confirmation). If you purchased the lens after September 1, 2012 - you can get the lens serviced for the 6-bit coding, for free. You might recall that the lens has existed in the firmware for a while, but took v1.162+ (for the M9/M9-P) before a permanently codeable value was possible. At least now you don't have to manually select it in the menu or code it yourself anymore.

New Voigtländer 21mm f/1.8 Ultron

At Photokina 2012, Voigtländer has announced a new M lens - the 21mm f/1.8 Ultron. At a relatively steep price (for Voigtländer lenses) of roughly $1,500 - it gives us a great option for a fast ultra wide lens. Read more below for the full specifications:

New Zeiss ZM at Photokina?
