A camera we've been telling you about for a little while now - has been officially announced. The Leica M-D (Type 262) a.k.a. "poor man's M60." Essentially a mix between the Leica M (Type 240) and M (Type 262) - using the same 24MP sensor as both but without the live view and video as with the latter. What truly sets it apart is the lack of the LCD screen on the backside... Replacing it with an ISO dial (similar to the spendy Leica M "Edition 60"). The retail price is £4,650/€5,995/$5,995. The rumors are building up surrounding a new camera, currently known as the Leica M-D (Type 262). It will be based on the existing Leica M (Type 262) including size and shape - sans the LCD screen on the back. Same sensor, brass top/bottom plates. The price is suggested to be higher, however - roughly $6,700 vs. $5,195 USD. It should be arriving at the beginning of May. We'll keep you posted! Read more below for additional details and updates!
