Leica to Offer Photoshop Lightroom 4

There have been some questions raised by the community as to whether or not Leica will provide new M9 and M9-P owners the latest version of Photoshop Lightroom 4 which was released earlier this week. The good news is that they will - but there's an expected one week delay before it becomes available on their servers. If you have not yet downloaded Lightroom with your provided TAN, give it a little time. Those that have already downloaded Lightroom 3 in the past are eligible for the $79 upgrade pricing from Adobe. Here's the statement from Leica:

Important information about Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 4:

Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 4 will soon be available for downloading. In the meantime, you can download the 30-day trial version with complete functionality from the Adobe website. Please note the system requirements.

We thank you for your understanding and wish you continued enjoyment of your Leica products.

Update: On March 12, Leica issued a statement on the matter:

Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 4 is considered to be the most professional image processing software currently available and, in combination with Leica cameras, guarantees ultimate image quality. The latest version of Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 4 is now part of the package supplied with Leica S2/S2-P, Leica M9/M9-P, Leica X1 and Leica D-Lux 5 cameras.

Leica Camera AG has maintained a successful cooperation with Adobe Systems Incorporated for many years. Our mutual aim is to provide our customers with perfect image quality and intuitive workflow solutions. Powerful tools enable fast and efficient organisation, optimisation and presentation of your images. In this, Leica attaches great importance to the future-proof Adobe RAW format, DNG (digital negative).

Leica cameras are fully integrated into the Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 4 workflow, for example with colour and lens profiles. In addition, the speed and stability of tethered shooting with the Leica S2 medium-format digital camera has been further improved.

Further new features:
_ Increased processing speed
_ Selective moire filter
_ M-Lens profiles
_ Selective white balance
_ Soft-proof function
_ Video compatibility

Important note:
With the introduction of Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 4, Microsoft Windows XP operating systems are no longer supported. The previous version, Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 3, which is fully compatible with Windows XP, is of course still available as an alternative for our customers who use this operating system.
