Street Photography with Fred Fogherty

Here's an interesting video of street photographer Fred Fogherty in action. Don't be put off by the "Fuji X Series Photographer" part (they're good cameras which we also enjoy using with our M lenses). It serves to illustrate the technique of wandering around in a relaxed style, looking for photo opportunities that exist all around us day to day. Worth a look! If you're interested, Fred runs workshops and you can check out some photos in his gallery, 80 Days Around the World.

Helen Levitt: New York Streets Exhibits

From Jim Casper over on LensCulture comes word of an exciting exhibition; "Helen Levitt: New York Streets 1938 to 1990s". A remarkable retrospective of Helen Levitt’s street photography from New York is being shown now at the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation in Paris. The exposition spans seven decades of her photographs made mostly throughout working-class neighborhoods in New York. Another exhibit of her works will be at the Telfair Museums in Savannah, GA from April 25 to September 21, 2014. Read more below for additional info.

Exposure: Dave Powell

Today's Exposure post is about a fellow from Boston, who's turned his situation into a passion for photography. His name is Dave Powell of ShootTokyo and photography is his outlet from an otherwise busy and sometimes stressful life. He primarily shoots a fine collection of Leica cameras (film and digital) including an M9-P, M Monochrom and M6-J. Making his home in Tokyo with his wife and son, he often travels to Sydney, Singapore and San Francisco for work - making for a rich variety of (primarily) street photography. You can also catch up with Dave on his Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages.

Tobias Gaulke - eBooks on Street Photography

Tobias Gaulke has released a new (free) eBook on street photography; his second. The first was called "Das ist doch keine Kunst!" and was released in 2013. It's 46 pages and written in German. His latest is called "Wherever I may roam..." and is hot off the presses! This time it's written in English, and comes in at 58 pages. Well worth checking them out. Thanks a lot, Tobias!

Garry Winogrand at The National Gallery of Art

The Washington Times is running an article called "The way we were (in pictures)" about Garry Winogrand and an exciting exhibition of "wall after wall, gallery after gallery of pictures in this enormous display of images." The exhibition takes place at The National Gallery of Art (6th and Constitution Ave NW, Washington, D.C.) from March 2 to June 8, 2014. The article is also a nice read on the life and work of Garry Winogrand. Check them both out, if you can.
