APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH Shipping Soon?

We haven't gotten any other reports backing this up yet and bellwethers B&H and Adorama still list as pre-order, so it might be a glitch on Amazon's part... But they show the APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH shipping in 2-4 weeks! The price listed is $7,195 USD. As you'll recall, Leica announced a delay - but didn't specify a new release date. The new M (Type 240) may - or may not - start shipping soon also. Update: read more below - they've started to ship!

More on Upcoming M10 and R Adapter?

We already know the M10 is coming (and what several of the features will be) which include live view. Several years ago, Leica promised us an "R solution" which unfortunately, has yet to materialize. We haven't been able to confirm this yet, but there's a very good chance that Leica will be announcing an R->M adapter at either Photokina 2012 or their special event, "Das Wesentliche" the night before. Now there's a little more of a tease...

Leica Event in Cologne 2012

Leica has scheduled an exclusive event in Köln (Cologne) Germany on September 17th, 2012 (the day before the start of Photokina 2012). Promising to focus on the "exclusive premiere of precision photographic tools." The rumors include a new Leica M10, a redesigned Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH and a new Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4. 24 Hours to Berlin Leica Event!

In just 24 hours from now (at 18:45 local time, 12:45 EDT) the big Leica event, "Das Wesentliche" will begin!

Looks like we're going to find out a few of the things Leica has in store for us in 2012... Our sources suggest that M system related products will include a monochrome M camera and the long-expected Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH lens. Leica M10 to Have IR Sensor

We got a hot tip that the upcoming Leica M10 will indeed have a "black and white sensor" but that it will be IR (thermal imaging). Now, this is just a rumor... So take it with a grain of salt. Read more below for more info...
