Exclusive La Vida Leica news - we have word that Leica will be announcing a successor (and not a special edition) to the fabled Leica MP film camera among the New Leica Products at Photokina 2014! Likely during the 60 Years of Leica M event on the first day of the show. It will be called the Leica M-A. Don't expect huge changes, but subtle updates to the design, a better rangefinder and the return of the rewind crank (as it is no longer available separately)! It will be a standalone version similar to the one we saw introduced in the Leica M Edition 100 set earlier this year, albeit in a regular, rather than stainless steel body (just like the upcoming Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 ASPH). That time is upon us once again - the biennial Photokina 2014 show in Cologne, Germany. We've already posted about the official Leica schedule of events... Now it's time to enter the murky area of new products we might see (as we did in 2012). Below is what we're expecting based on the year's news so far, and we'll of course keep you updated on the very latest developments right here! Read more below for all the details!
Funny how "exclusive news" means nothing when other websites shamelessly steal your thunder, reposting it without credit... Like Steve Huff and Petapixel. So if you're wondering... They all read it here first.

A La Vida Leica exclusive (which Leica Rumors copied and reposted without credit). You may have heard of Camera West (they're one of our sponsors). They currently run two rather successful Leica boutiques, located in Rancho Mirage and Walnut Creek, CA. Turns out, they're working with Leica Camera to open a full-on Leica Store in San Francisco. We don't know the exact location yet, but we do know it's in a prime area and the space is gorgeous. Depending on construction, the opening is tentatively set for late June or early July. We reached out to Camera West, who had no comment. Read more below for updates!

We've bitten our tongue enough times now, but this is it. We've noticed over and over again the theft of our content by the site Leica Rumors. Typically it means they glom our news posts in an effort to shortcut us (they admittedly have more followers, for now) and provide content for their site. For proof of this, look at the posts on that site, and then look at the posts on this site - specifically, the time and date of their posting. You'll notice that more often than not, we were first. But such is the nature of the online "news" business... But the thefts are blatant and obvious, and happen repeatedly. Now we've seen, directly, a second time this has happened and are going live with this story - which we've hesitated to post previously. Read more below for the full details and examples of all three.
