Kodak has just killed three slide films, namely:

  • Kodak Professional Ektachrome E100G
  • Kodak Professional Ektachrome E100VS
  • Kodak Professional Elite Chrome Extra Color 100

Figures. I actually liked E100G.

A sad day that was. The company that started it all...

I just realized how great the Ektachromes where (I'm a newish photographer) for color when scanned right, bought 20 rolls of VS and G for a vacation, came home (luckily only shooting 8 rolls) and read this news. I guess an M9 is in my future...

Yeah, definitely a downer. I have a ton of Kodak slide in the fridge in both 135 and 120. I might have to select film for shooting more judiciously going forward. ;)

As long as there's an alternative - while the situation sucks, at least it hasn't reached The End yet. I love slide film (especially Velvia, honestly) and scanning it doesn't get easier.

Ordered some rolls from Adorama who still has the films in multiple formats at the old prices.

Wow, those are gorgeous shots.

B&H and Freestyle are already tapped out on the 120 sizes...

I ordered from Adorama last night, just looked at it and the VS in 135 is now $10.50 and 120 sold out, but the E100G is still the same price and available only in 120 and 135—4x5 and 8x10 all gone...
