Why would they source a brand new screen from a different maker, but not use a better resolution LCD? They were definitely available and cost isn't a factor.
It doesn't make sense that they upgraded everything on the camera, but when they designed the M9 they said "hey, we need a new LCD supplier, but let's have them make the NEW camera with the same specs as the OLD camera!"
Exactly the point. To illustrate this abject callousness, the MM (or M9M) was introduced at $8k years after the M9 and still sported the same crappy LCD, without any of the quirks of the M9 resolved. They...don't...care...because...they get away with it and the old crap is already amortized.
