I think I see one in my future. :)

I don't plan to buy a lot of R lenses (if any) for use with the M. That's what the M primes are for. But there is ONE lens that I'd love - a nice zoom to replace what I typically dragged around... A Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L. A one lens, do-it-all approach for when you really don't want to carry anything but the camera.

Until now, the only solution has been the Tri-Elmar 35-50-70mm f/4 ASPH - which is rather complex and also rather expensive! Plus it's not a true zoom (though I could live with the difference).

Anyone have any experience with this gem? Or the "legendary" f/2.8 version?

I just bought a brand new (well 12 year old but new) copy for my New M which is on order. I have played with it on my 5DII and I am very impressed - it is better than my canon 24-70 and primes! It is of course a much more modest specification. I posted a few tests images and crops at http://photo.net/canon-eos-digital-camera-forum/00atUJ

Those samples from the R certainly do look better than the EF... Nice.

I got it on my R8 with DMR, love the macro function as well!

See some of my shots on 500px.com/Jip they are with the DMR and the 35-70 1:4

I use this lens on a M(240). It is excellent. Smaller and more reasonably priced than 28-90 whose price is out of sight. You will need the EVF for it. One additional plus is that its Macro mode is very good too. For travel, I also use a Tri-Elmar 28-35-50 as it is smaller but when I can will also carry the R 35-70 f/4.

By the way, do not confuse this lens with the f/3.5. My understanding is that it is not as well made and not as good optically (and much cheaper). But I can't say that for sure as I have not tested that one.

Hi, I'm new here, although reading some time in this forum.
I have now 2 R lenses for my M240, plus a 0.95 Noctilux and a 90 mm Elmarit.

Opened recently on Facebook a group for the M240R combo owners and for those that are interested for using R senses on a M240.

Join us, so that we can profit from your experiences!

Damn Cool!!!

None of my R lenses are in the menu, they work, just no EXIF info.

Too bad I am in China, where Facebook is Verboten.
