Hey guys, A while ago I wrote a review about the Summilux-R 80mm lens, it's a great portrait lens with close to no distortion (less than the 50mm summicron's) with a classic Mandler rendering look to it. You can read it here: http://jipvankuijk.nl/summilux-r-80-leica-r8-m-typ-240/ Thanks for reading, and please leave your thoughts here or in the comments section of my website. |

It's a sizable though manageable lens on a DSLR and can only imagine its heft on an M240. I would imagine the R 90 AA easier in this regard, though the rendering may a bit too unforgiving (it was so on my D700). |

I wasn't able to access the article/review. My experiences with the 80 were less than favorable, or at least to my liking on my R bodies. I have always found the 90 Summicrons both R and M, to over the 80 and even more so, both R and M 135 Elmarits have always been my favorite portrait lenses. Though I have used the Noctilux and 35 R Summicron for portraiture as well. It's a matter of perspective after all. ![]() I even used to use my Hasselblad SWC on occasion for portraits. |

Jip: Once again, a thoughtful, well-written review, accompanied by inspirational photographs. I find your particular way of seeing appealing, and your handling of various subject matter is sensitive and produces intrinsically beautiful photographs. Bravo! |
