Thanks, gents. Its very helpful for me to see what other LVLrs use as "walking-around" lenses, particularly when they post a fairly wide range of compositions involving human subjects as is the case here. It suggests that the 35mm Summicron could become my preferred lens if I opt for an M10.

James,

Sounds like a good plan to me. Good luck....

I tend to gravitate towards the Summilux 50mm, but have had a lot of fun with the Summicron 28mm. I don't have a Leica 35mm, only the Voigtländer Nokton and it's a bit too bulky for that. Long story short, I guess I'm a 50mm man.

I have seen many gorgeous photographs, both in color and monochrome, shot with a Summilux 50mm. Portraits shot wide-open in low-light conditions particularly appeal to me, especially when they have that limpid quality in the eyes of the subject and an ever-so-slight lack of definition in the edges. But then, airfrogusmc hit that note just right in his Summilux 35mm FLE asph portrait of the female health care worker, above. So, maybe these distinctions are to a degree "all in my head," except for issues of perspective and its consequent impact on framing and cropping.

The only solution is to win a lottery and buy both Summilux lenses. ;)

Nice color. Nice compositions. I like the way you made use of multiple parallels running diagonally across the frame. The parallel placement of the coffee cup and walking man in the top image makes a fine counterpoint, while the complimentary colors express the counterpoint in the second image.

Just got my 28/2 today. After the zm 35/1.4 and still having the 0.95 nocti, I’ve got just one thing to say... IT’S TINY!!!! [emoji23]

Enjoy! Is the 28/2 going to be your "walking around" lens?

Not sure, remains to be seen I guess. I don’t usually tie myself to a particular lens, rather pick by location.

If it’s old European cities or villages, with tight scenes then it’ll be 28 for sure. Same goes for tight indoors.

But if there’s room to breathe, I’ll go with the nocti. Wide angle is still a bit hard for me, when there’s open spaces. Too often I get into ”happy snapper” mode and have a hard time getting something interesting in the foreground and end up trying to ”get all in”.

It’s something I have to work on still. 50mm is much more forgiving in that sense.

For those old cities though, I might end up getting a cheap CV12 or CV15 still. They’re small & light and pretty much the focals I’d need to catch the front of a big church or castle. Usually there’s not enough room to go back to catch the fascade with a 28.

Same goes for insides in these churches...

I already have the evf for my M10, so finder won’t be an issue.
