some pleasing portraits have been posted here that really brings out the character of the subjects (dogs and people alike). also impressed with the choice of films and chemicals used to create these. i'm almost ashamed to report that my recent B&W film of choice has been XP2 developed and scanned by Snappy-Snaps... this may inspire me to 're-learn' the techniques of the darkroom and to become reacquainted with the sweet fragrance of fixer.
personally, i'm not really a portrait-taking person due to still getting over the traumas of a short, yet painful, experience as a 'machine-operator'. i worked a commercial mobile studio specialising in baby and children portraits. even though it was 15 years ago, i still remember the 5am starts, trying to avoid changing bag mishaps, the screaming kids, the pushy mothers, the meagre wage packet and the pressures from the company to 'make each shot count'.
