Alex. Two superb portraits but number 1 has incredible contrast and grain. I've never shot a 3200 film.

Thanks Kev. The Tmax and Delta 3200 film are both wonderful (I tend to prefer the Tmax), and can be pushed upwards of 25000iso :o

They're worth a try next time the situation may so dictate.

Really an interesting shot, it looks like its from a movie set. Tells a story or at least makes you create one

some pleasing portraits have been posted here that really brings out the character of the subjects (dogs and people alike). also impressed with the choice of films and chemicals used to create these. i'm almost ashamed to report that my recent B&W film of choice has been XP2 developed and scanned by Snappy-Snaps... this may inspire me to 're-learn' the techniques of the darkroom and to become reacquainted with the sweet fragrance of fixer.

personally, i'm not really a portrait-taking person due to still getting over the traumas of a short, yet painful, experience as a 'machine-operator'. i worked a commercial mobile studio specialising in baby and children portraits. even though it was 15 years ago, i still remember the 5am starts, trying to avoid changing bag mishaps, the screaming kids, the pushy mothers, the meagre wage packet and the pressures from the company to 'make each shot count'.

anyway, that's in the past and here is a portrait...

All that time you spent snapping kids has obviously paid off as I think this is very good, many thanks.

This is probably the single most important portrait I've ever taken or possibly will take. A little backstory... I went to Germany to surprise my mom for her birthday at the end of October 2008 (which was a complete success - she was floored as she wasn't expecting it). Also for this trip, I decided to abandon my DSLR gear for the first time and just bring the Ikon and B&W film.

Zeiss Ikon, Leica Elmarit-M 90mm f/2.8, Tri-X @ EI400:

It gets more interesting, unfortunately. Little did I know, but this would be the last picture I took of my mom - she passed away only two weeks later. Furthermore, a couple of frames on this particular roll got bunged up during developing (touching on the reel) - so I might have ended up with a bad picture. Thankfully however, only 2-3 frames were affected and this wasn't one of them!

Thanks, Mark!

That's a great capture, hehe. Playful, defiant, silly. :)
