I watched the new Netflix feature film Kodachrome, starring Ed Harris as a world-famous photographer battling terminal cancer and coming to terms with his estranged son (Jason Sudeikis) with the support of a sympathetic nurse (Elizabeth Olsen). The nurse talks the son into driving her and his father to Parsons, Kansas to have Dwayne's Photo (the last lab in the world equipped to develop Kodachrome film) process four 35mm rolls shot years before. Harris carries a black Leica analogue rangefinder and several Leica lenses, and is seen taking photographs, cleaning lenses, and loading the camera. The son's hostility towards his outspoken father, who was traveling the world while the son was growing up, is barely repressed, and the nurse has her hands full trying to keep the road trip going. LVLrs should enjoy this movie.
