Hahahaha... Leica wants $518 for basically a relube.

Time to send it to DAG. $185.

Problem is the nylon grease that's used out of the factory. It's good for a while, but breaks down. DAG uses the original grease Leica used. Much better.

I finally got a no-charge invoice from Leica Service in New Jersey for the replacement of the sensor in my M-E along with a CLA, leather covering and replacement of a printed circuit. :D "Turn-around" time to invoice: 24 weeks. I sent it in just prior to the deadline for sensor replacement, so I expected it to fall into a workload peak. Now I'm hovering over the laptop watching for a UPS shipping notice.

You’ll be missing out on all the pixie dust... beware, your photo quality might go down! [emoji23]

They're clearly on a roll... From what I understand, they're stocked on sensors and should be knocking them out these days. The bottleneck at this point can only be technician workload. Hopefully you'll be getting that shipping notice ASAP!

Hahaha! That must be it. TBH, I'd rather let Leica fix it and be done with it, since the lens is already there. Otherwise they have to ship it to me, then I ship it to DAG, then he ships it back to me... Each leg of the trip of course just adding to the time and expense.

Thankfully, it won't be necessary though! Through my contact at Leica NJ I was able to negotiate a fair price with me for the service, and they'll be taking care of it. WHEW!

I received my M-E from Leica Service in NJ this morning, via UPS. :D Curiously, they did not email a shipping notice to me, although they did require a signature.

Nice - congrats!

I got my Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH back as well and it works as good as new.

Excellent. So with my M-E. It came back in pristine condition.

Time to start using this stuff again... It's hard. I've been in Fujiland for so long.

You need to cure yourself from them evil ways and get back to where life is simple and no computers focus for you [emoji23]

Here it’s rather a winter break from shooting. With the ammount of darkness and crap weather we have to endure each winter, it’s haaaard to get inspired by anything.

Right now the things to keep me sane is last weeks business trip to Portugal and the upcoming holiday trip to Spain in 5 weeks time. Getting back from Spain we’re reaching May and things are really turning towards summer... life begins again! [emoji41]

Awesome! Spain is at the top of my list of places I really want to visit...especially Madrid (because of the Prado). Do you know where you will be visiting?
