I finally got a no-charge invoice from Leica Service in New Jersey for the replacement of the sensor in my M-E along with a CLA, leather covering and replacement of a printed circuit.
"Turn-around" time to invoice: 24 weeks. I sent it in just prior to the deadline for sensor replacement, so I expected it to fall into a workload peak. Now I'm hovering over the laptop watching for a UPS shipping notice.
They're clearly on a roll... From what I understand, they're stocked on sensors and should be knocking them out these days. The bottleneck at this point can only be technician workload. Hopefully you'll be getting that shipping notice ASAP!

You’ll be missing out on all the pixie dust... beware, your photo quality might go down!
Hahaha! That must be it. TBH, I'd rather let Leica fix it and be done with it, since the lens is already there. Otherwise they have to ship it to me, then I ship it to DAG, then he ships it back to me... Each leg of the trip of course just adding to the time and expense.
Thankfully, it won't be necessary though! Through my contact at Leica NJ I was able to negotiate a fair price with me for the service, and they'll be taking care of it. WHEW!
