Hey gang!

I'm aware of some folks having login issues. One turned out to be a bookmark to the old login link (more on this in a second) atop the forum page(s). This would only partially log you into the site, for various reasons.

I've modified the login/logout behavior of these forum links to now properly log you into (and out of) the site. Some of it involves a bit of a workaround, which I'll continue to try and refine (mainly it takes you away from the forum page).

If you're having problems, I suggest the following:

1) Logout
2) Clear all lavidaleica.com cookies in your browser
3) Visit the front page and login using the box to the right side - or click on the login link here on the forum

Update any bookmarks you might have, especially older HTTP URLs as they should all be using HTTPS now. They will redirect automatically, but it's cleaner this way.

I'm also aware of some other one-off issues that result in a "403" or "Permission Denied" error. To help me resolve this for you (and likely others) please visit WhatIsMyIP.com and PM me your IP address, along with a sentence on what you were doing. I can then find your issue(s) in the logs and work to resolve them. If you can't login, use the contact form instead.

This all stems from not only making the site secure with HTTPS/SSL, but implementing a number of protections to prevent hacking, DDoS attempts and abuse by bots and spammers. Already it has resulted in overall bandwidth dropping to a third of what it was and eliminated completely constant spam registrations! So it's worthwhile, even if it's an interruption.

Anonymous (guest) users can no longer use the forum search feature. Either register on the site or use Google... It's just another thing bots and ne'erdowells abuse.

Apologies for the inconvenience!

You're very welcome!

Sorry for the issues, everyone. We'll get there. Then we can get back to content!

Just completed the final step... Putting the cache back in place behind SSL.

You might notice that pages just pop right into view now.

What a giant pain in the ass getting all the plumbing working... But we should be done! Faster and safer than ever. :)

Safe is great!

I've further locked down old, unsupported or dangerous protocols and ciphers. This will prevent a few known attacks (e.g. poodle) and make things all around more secure.

I've also gotten the cache working over HTTPS with HTTP/2 support - the holy grail!
