I know, right? Such a subjective thing, this bokeh. You can't even quantify it really. What's good (or bad) for one person might not be for another. Some people claim to not even notice bokeh. Then there's all the adjectives... Creamy, smooth and buttery on the good side. Jarring, nervous and caffeinated on the bad. And that's just some of them.

So let's see what everyone thinks is "bad bokeh." It would help to say what lens was used!

The ugly Bokeh of Nokton. It works well with lights by night, but with daylight ... arghhh.

I think the lighting (and highlights) really have a lot to do with the bokeh. I've seen some very smooth bokeh shots with the nokton and sonnars, and some pretty harsh backgrounds with famously smooth Leica glass..

But there are definitely lenses that are more prone to the harshness than others.
