Some prefer to have a 21mm and 35mm spread, while others prefer a 28mm and 50mm. Which type are you?

Personally, and maybe it's just rationalizing - I can see a need for all of these focal lengths. Of course, when grabbing kit for the day I try to keep it to two at a time.

Others tend to buy only two of the four, period...

I'm a 21/35 guy, or even a 35/90. Perhaps the reason I'm not as in love with the 50mm focal length is that I never really got along with my summicron...like you I can see a situation for all standard rangefinder focal lengths in almost any situation, but will often go out with two lenses for the day

I'm a 50mm shooter. I find that the 50mm focal length is the most natural for me when it comes to perspective. I use 35mm when I need a wider angle for composition. At 28mm, the perspective distortion starts to bother me. I usually carry a 50mm mounted to the camera with a 35mm and a telephoto in the bag just in case. I do have a 24mm Elmarit-M ASPH, which is one of my favourite Leica lenses but I rarely use it.

50 most of the time. 35 for busy street photography or architecture. I love my CV 75 for portraits - but don't use it that much.

24/35 or 50, 35/75, or lately 35/50 for a 2 lens kit. Sadly I don't own my own 75 M-mount yet but I've borrowed them or throw my 50 on an APS-C adapted with an M-mount for the 75 effect. It works.

Don't have a 21 so it's 28/50 for me and I usually add a 90 as well. Unless I'm looking for a specific shot, this seems to cover most bases for me particularly when travelling.
