I have a chance to acquire two lenses in very good condition.
They are:
Leica Leitz 40mm f/2 Summicron-C M Mount
Leica-M Summarit 50 mm f/1.5 Lens
Can somebody tell me if these lenses are a wise purchase?
I can use them on both an M8.2 and M9.
It depends on what you already have and if it is worth the purchase. Are you looking to use it or collect it? If you are a lens collector then collect every good condition vintage lens you can find! A good condition vintage lens is worth a million times more than a cheap but bad condition lens. If you plan to use it then it depends what kind of lenses you already have. I have always found it better to be using 35mm or 50mm lens. 40mm is kind of an akward focal length with no frame lines. If you already have 35mm or wider lenses I would go for the 50mm lens. If you have 50mm or longer focal length lens already 40mm may not be a bad choice .
