Why do something unless you can overdo it? Almost every year I attend a WWII re-enactment weekend at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, PA--an event that attracts more than 50,000 re-enactors, pilots (for vintage aircraft), tourists, hangers-on, etc. For the 2014 show I decided to photograph it using period equipment: a iiiB with Summar 5cm lens, WINTU right-angle finder, SCNOO rapidwinder, and eight FILCA cassettes loaded with Kodak 5222. I developed the film in D-76 at 1:1, and had a friend make prints. He found the same type font used for old print date codes (month year, as in JUL 43, which seemed appropriate for the images shot) and trimmed the prints with a period deckle-edge paper cutter. Results are here: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/focusi ... snapshots/

Oh, always overdo it! And welcome to LVL!

That sounds like a seriously fun event! When is it usually held, and will it happen this year? Might have to go check that out!

Looks like the perfect gear to take pictures of such an event with. Would love to see more photos.

It's in June. Hope you can make it! http://www.maam.org/maamwwii.html This year I'm considering bringing a pre-war Kodak Cine Special.

Another wonderful event--and a perfect use for a Leica A--is the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governor's Island (ferry ride from Manhattan). http://www.jazzagelawnparty.com/

Glad you enjoyed the photographs, which were the best of the lot. Most of the others had anachronisms, such as German soldiers chatting on iPhones.

For something closer to the season, try attending the Easter Parade in New York City. Fifth Avenue from about 38th st to Central Park is closed to motor traffic, and filled with hundreds of people in Easter hats and ensembles, tasteful and otherwise. Here's one I shot with my M3/pre-asph Summilux/Acros 100. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/focusi ... m.jpg.html
