This lens is getting a little press again recently. For those unaware, there were only 10 of these ever made - with six of them going straight to NASA. But its most famous role may be that of Stanley Kubrick's weapon of choice in filming the candlelit scenes in Barry Lyndon. Too bad none of the lens manufacturers want to devote the time, money, and resources to design a lens this fast with floating and aspheric elements. It would be huge and very expensive, but they'd sell a few... |
