Not long ago I was visiting the Leica Store & Gallery LA. Phil, one of their sales representatives and their training programs coodinator, asked me if I had checked out the "new" Thambar-M 90mm f2.2 lens. I had not, so he took the display unit out and we mounted it on my M10. Phil demonstrated the unique Bokeh, and the soft effect which this lens can provide. It occurred to me that it would be fun to use this lens for head and shoulders portraits outdoors at night in an urban environment, especially with colorful neon or led lights in the background which can become integrated into the Bokeh. I would leave the softening feature "off," so that the portrait would be nicely sharp. I've attached a photograph of Phil, made with the Thambar and my M10, ISO 800, in available light inside the Leica Store LA.
