New on M system.

I have a 50mm leica summilux. If I have to choose between a new lens for travel and street photograph wich I would? The 28mm summilux or the 35mm?

Thanks!

Welcome to La Vida Leica, Alexandres! I don't have experience with the 28mm lens; however, there is a current discussion of the versatility of the Summilux 35mm FLE asph lens - with some excellent examples using a range of subject matter by LVL member airfrogusmc - under the topic "M10." The moderator, double exposure, seems to favor the Summilux 50mm. They may want to elaborate their views for you, and I'm sure there are other members who can comment on the pros and cons of the 28mm. It might help to know which M camera you are using.

I'm a big fan of the 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M, no doubt. That said, I also enjoy shooting the 28mm f/2 Summicron-M. Between the two, I'd lean towards the 50mm.

I’ve got a 50 and used to have a 35 to complement it. I didn’t see eye-to-eye with it and switched to 28. So I now have 50 & 28 and it feels great.

Still, in the end it’s a personal choice. So the correct answer is:”It depends”.

I added a few street photographs shot with the 35mm Summilux-M under the topic "M10." I'm not advocating for that focal length necessarily; I agree its a personal choice. Frankly, I'd like to try the 28mm Summicron-M (after my wallet recovers from buying the M10!) ;)
