Astute shooters (or just people that look at this kind of stuff) may have noticed that the bokeh changed between the last three Summilux 35mm f/1,4 lenses (most obviously anyway). It has gotten "more defined" as a result of the ASPH and FLE elements, rather than smoother, more blurred. Of course, the lenses have also gotten better in general performance as a result.

Which look do you prefer? Personally, I'm fonder of the pre-ASPH bokeh. Very smooth, very Leica-like, very dreamy. The latest "FLE" version seems more defined, though a little "harsher" in my opinion.

Of course, this is all very subjective. Maybe someone that's owned various versions can jump in and post some samples to illustrate at some point.
