New M owner. The lux 35mm or the cron 35? That is the question. Help! |

Unless you absolutely need the 1.4 the Summicron should be perfect. |

Same question, no answers. I have the cron and I tried the lux. I'm craving for 1.4 however money matter and at the end of day I'm really happy with the Cron. Lux: 1.4, better hood.. Cron: better price they both render beautifully |

Find yourself an old 12 504 vented hood and the tiny 35 'cron ASPH looks just lovely. Have a gander at all of Thorsten von Overgaard's otions for the 35 'Cron: http://www.overgaard.dk/leica-35mm-summicron-M-f20.html Here's an image he posted on his site with that very same arrangement: Attachment: L6640461-2_CROP_GIFT-640w.jpg

Can you see through? Even though the lux 35 is bigger, the hood is well designed and on that side, overall I prefer it to the cron. |

No problems at all. It's vented and rotates; the metal is angled to minimize blockage. Marginally clearer view than the square plastic hood included with the 35 ASPH. |

It's a bit pricey but if I find a good deal I'll give it a try |

Can often find one used if you look. Check KEH. Still not cheap ($80-100) but not >$200. An interesting, all-metal alternative can be had at Japan Exposures' website. They show a hood that resembles the one above, for about US$90. Looks solid: http://www.japanexposures.com/shop/acce ... d-m39.html |

Never been on KEH.. Thanks for the tip. Hard to understand which is original and which is simply well done though. |
