Hey guys!

I wrote a review on the Leica Elmarit-M 28mm ASPH. In the article I'm talking about it's performance, handling etc on the M8, M9 and M (Typ 240) I haven't used it enough on film to talk about that too, but maybe I'll add that later to the article.

Let me know what you guys think here, or in the comments area on my website!

You can read the article here: http://jipvankuijk.nl/leica-elmarit-m-28mm-f2-8-asph/

I don't have the Elmarit, but rather the Summicron. Absolutely love that lens' rendering, and the 28mm FoV is far more useful than I would've imagined. I really enjoy shooting with it.

Great article, BTW! We posted a link to it on our Facebook page. :)

The 28 Elmarit ASPH is my next lens, and quite possibly my last. I currently own the 50mm f/2 Summicron (non-APO), 35mm f/2.5 Summarit and want one more to pair with the 50 for travel.

I like my Leica lenses small and light, so this one really appeals to me.

Another great review from Jip, with spectacular photographs! I'm thinking about adding a 28mm lens, and this article is helpful in giving fair consideration to the Elmarit-M.

Great review!
I have the Summicron ASPH version, which I love the rendering of. I often waver between loving 35mm and 28mm, it's a close tie for me.

I have done quite a bit of research on the 28 Elmarit ASPH and for the life of me I cannot see a down side to this lens. I used to own the 28 Summicron ASPH, which is no longer with me. I am missing the 28mm field of view, so I am thinking of replacing my departed 28 'cron with the 28 Elmarit.

I have the 21/3.4 ASPH and have not found it lacking in speed with f/3.4 as its maximum aperture for the kind of shooting that I do; therefore I expect the Elmarit's f/2.8 to be fast enough. I am not opposed to acquiring another copy of the 28 'cron, but at almost twice the cost of the Elmarit, I have a hard time seeing the wisdom in that investment.

The Summicron and Elmarit are both amazing, but they both are amazing in their own ways... I like the Summicron a lot more in general because it is sharp but also has a classic rendering, while the Elmarit is great for photos without people.

In short:
Summicron for environmental portraits
Elmarit for buildings landscapes etc (altough the summicron does this great too)

I can't explain why I like it that way, I just do. :)
