Does anyone use it or has anyone tried it?

Having grown tired of mixing D76 (especially since I like to use half gallon size bottles), I began the search for a liquid developer that could give me similar contrast, tones and grain with my beloved Tri-X. I didn't like the liquid options from Kodak I'd tried in the past and didn't like the mid tones I got from Tetenal blue, so I did a little research and found info about and samples from Clayton F76+. Needless to say, I really like it in the 8 rolls I developed using it so far, with the added bonus of flatter negatives then I'd ever gotten with D76. So my new routine is Tri-X in F76 plus 1+9 for 6:25 @ 20 c, Tetenal odorless fixer (which is also wonderful), Heico Perma Wash, and photoflo.

Also the generic F76+ is called Arista Premium liquid developer, available at freestyle for very cheap.

NOTE: this developer does oxidize (turns yellow, and probably eventually brown and dead) somewhat quickly with a non stoppered bottle at 1+9, so it's best to mix as you develop or use a stoppered bottle

Looks very nice. I had the same issue with D76 and eventually started using the HC-110 but I still prefer the results I was getting from D76. I'm going to give F76+ a try.

Wow, that looks very nice. I dig it. I have to admit, I too am a sucker for liquid developers (favoring HC-110 and Rodinal) but I love Xtol (my only powdered dev). Being available from Freestyle in a generic is a real bonus too. Not just for the price, but I happen to get my supplies from them as well. Thanks for the report!

Can you mix straight from the bottle?

Yes! Info is hard to find but I think that may be the recommended method. 1+9 for standard times and 1+19 for push dev

I've sent Clayton (based here in SoCal) an email with some questions. Hope to have a little more info after a response on Monday.

And it provides great results when pushing. Not too much info available, so one needs to extrapolate based on experience...but Tri-X at EI 1600 in f76+ 1+9 for 12min seemed to work quite well
