Has anyone tried using an M9 with the Macro Adapter goggles and lens that are not the 90 mm Macro.

I'm thinking of the 90 mm Elmarit in particular.

Does it work?

In theory, yes... Though it surely works best on the M with live view.

Quote:
As the Macro-Adapter-M is also compatible with other M lenses, it offers Leica M photographers an even wider range of opportunities for creative composition and additional variety in reportage portfolios. With Leica lenses from 50mm and longer, it enables macro photography up to a reproduction ratio of 1:2 and, with wide-angle lenses, even larger ratios.

Ah okay. Thanks for the prompt reply.

Is that quote about the macro adapter for the M240 that looks like an old fashioned extension tube, or is it about the Macro adapter that has goggles and is usually sold with the 90 macro?

Grey and dreary today.......no photography planned.

Here's a link to the adapter I mean.....which does not need live view as it has goggles.

No problem. That's from the Macro Adapter sold with the 90mm.

So it works with the M9 and the Elmarit 90mm f2.8?

I don't have the Macro-Elmar 90mm f4.

Thanks for your patience!

The Leica 90 Macro lens has a scale on both sides. One for regular and one for close focus. When mounted on the Macro Adapter with the eyes it is mounted "upside down" so that the close focus scale is on the top when on the camera. I have the 90 tele elmar and will try it when I can. I'm curious to see if it works as well.

Great; thanks for that. Let us know.

In the UK we can buy the Macro adapter with the goggles quite reasonably and if it works with the Elmarit 90 2.8 it would save me buying the Macro Elmar

Works just fine albeit without the distance scale for close focus. Curious why you would need the scale for Macro anyway. I tried a 135 Elmar with it and it works well too with live view.
