Hi!

No useless arguing, here is what you get from the M8 with a lot of passion and a touch of French savoir-faire:

I hope you like these, and I wish you a perfect day.

Cheers,

Really lovely shots, Elie! Thanks for sharing them, and welcome to LVL!

The M8 is still a great camera; perhaps the sharpest of all the digital Ms.

I currently have an M8 and I absolutely love it.

Can you please explain why this may be the sharpest of all the digital Ms?

It has the thinnest IR glass of all the M cameras. This was Leica's reasoning behind making it so thin. Unfortunately, it also caused the much-ballyhooed "magenta issue" of IR contaminating blacks in the shots. C'est la vie.

Actually, the reason why the IR glass was so thin was for lens clearance purposes. IR actually makes images appear less sharp because it focuses on a different plane and the contamination actually degrades the quality at the edge of the IR/visible spectrum. The less IR makes images sharper.

From what I understand the M9 filter isn't thicker glass, it's a different coating that has a broader IR cutoff rate. The M9 IR-cut filter is not even close to what currenty DSLRs use.

Wonderful photographs, Elie! So full of life! Beautiful composition and exposures, too. You've inspired me to grab the M9 and hit the street!

I'll second that! (M2 though). Some real nice pics.
