Looks like an interesting camera, no doubt:

  • Fujifilm-designed 16MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor
  • Novel colour filter array to suppress colour moiré, no optical low-pass filter
  • EXR Processor Pro image processor
  • Dual-magnification hybrid optical / electronic viewfinder
  • Analogue dials for shutter speed and exposure compensation on top of camera
  • All-new, fully electronic X lens mount; 17.7mm flange-to-sensor distance
  • Three 'XF' lenses at launch: XF 18mm F2 R, XF 35mm F1.4 R, and XF 60mm F2.4 R Macro
  • Prime lenses have traditional-style aperture rings (1/3 stop increments) and large manual focus rings
  • Revised rear-panel control layout
  • On-screen 'Q' control panel and redesigned tabbed menu system
  • Focal-plane shutter, 1/4000 sec max speed
  • 3.0" RGBW 1.23M dot LCD

DPReview's got a nice preview of the Fujifilm X-Pro1 and you can pre-order it here.

An interesting article revealed this nugget:

"DNG is broad enough to handle unusual image sensors such as Fujifilm X-Pro 1, which uses a 36-pixel pattern with more green pixels than the usual 4-pixel Bayer pattern in most cameras."

They're previewing their upcoming M mount adapter at the CP+ show in Japan:

They've also released some 30 high-resolution sample photos from the camera as well. What's especially interesting is that they are all shot in one of the film modes; Astia, Provia and Velvia!

I look forward to "real-world" testing, especially with the M adaptor and some good Leica glass. For someone as entrenched in film as I, it looks like this camera has potential for a fun digital option...

I'm selling mine. It's alright but I could never get used to the lag (maybe I'm doing it wrong). Just never felt facile and comfortable. Also, I'm all for having options, but that menu system was just too much for me. Camera body is super sexy and feels great in the hands, but the lens feels cheap, although it is pretty good.

I may be stupid and crazy but I just didn't think the image quality is there. Probably because I had to shoot everything in JPGs and that ridiculous proprietary format that I never figured out (nor wanted to or tried to) how to convert into a normal DNG or other useful format.
