At CES (January 2012) Fujifilm has confirmed plans to launch an M-mount lens adapter for its X-Pro1 compact system camera:

"Hiroshi Kawahara, Fujifilm's operations manager for Product Planning, made the announcement at CES, telling journalists it will 'revive the old lenses from the film era'.

The adapter will allow manual focus operation with old Fujinon lenses, as well as M-mount Leica lenses, for example.

Kawahara was vague on the exact timing of the launch but, when pressed, said he expects it to go on sale in April, after the CP+ trade show in Japan next month."

That's just great.
Add 6 more months to the M lens waiting list.

I'm no expert, but I don't remember seeing a whole lot of 'Fujinon Lens' available for the M mount or LTM for that matter. Have I missed something? Seems like a great camera by the way and the answer to my question may determine if I decide between this or the mythical M10 in replacement/addition to my beloved M8!

I believe he's speaking of these in LTM:

but really thats probably the company explanation for attempting to tap the Leica market.

I'd be curious to discover if one can focus an LTM lens with an LTM to M adapter in-turn mounted to the Fuji M to X adaptor they are speaking of. That extra couple millimeters created from using two adapter might cause issues.

From what I have read, this camera has the possiblity to take a wide range of focal lengths and even a zoom. If that is the case, then perhaps the addition of a couple of millimetres won't make that much difference and may be compensated for by any focus assistance mechanism.

It's all a bit early to say at the moment, and I look forward to the more in-depth reviews and sample photos that will follow.

What ever the case though I think Fuji may have stollen a little bit of a march on Leica!

The M-adapter is expensive but works well, just obviously doesn't record the data like the normal dedicated Fuji lenses.

So I finally picked up one of these - you may have seen the thread, Sample Photos - M Lenses on Fuji X Cameras in this forum.

It's a quality accessory, and works as advertised. jairyhunter is right; it doesn't record the aperture info as the Fujifilm bodies lack the little sensor of the Ms. It does record the focal length and lets you dial in corrections (at least on the X-T1 and I believe X-E2); that's what the second button does. It brings up a focal length selection menu, and the info is recorded into the EXIF data. It's at the high end of adapter prices; in fact, only the Novoflex is more expensive - and doesn't offer the function button! Insane.

I'm currently testing a Kipon adapter; while it also lacks the function button, it allows close-focusing with a separate helicoid! Very cool. Also, being that it lacks the electronics, I can use it with THE lens I've been dying to use, which is "incompatible" with the Fujifilm adapter... The Voigtländer 35mm f/1.2 Nokton! Makes for a killer "50mm" lens.
