Some interesting stuff about the MM (M Monochrom).

- The base ISO is now 320 over the M9 and M8's ISO 160
- At similar ISOs, the MM file is cleaner as far as noise
- The ISO on the MM goes to 10,000
- There is about a 1.5 stop difference in noise between the MM and M9
- ISO 2,500 is indeed quite usable now, even
- ISO 5,000 and 10,000 - which show a bit more noise, but
- Noise on the MM is more akin to film grain

Some thoughts worth pointing out about the MM...

- The new base ISO of 320 makes sense because the sensor captures about a stop extra in light due to the lack of a bayer filter (which absorbs some light in general but also because of the colors)

- The noise, ISO-by-ISO is cleaner than found on the M9/M9-P. Keep in mind that a large part of it is also the fact that there is no CHROMA noise - it's all LUMINANCE noise.

The low light capabilities and clean high ISO are truly amazing with the MM. Its a great tool for the street. To be able to use 1600 and 3200 ISO and shoot at 1/500 or 1/1000 at f/8 or f/11 so large DoF and stop action are great pluses for this camera.

That's most impressive - it's very clean and natural looking, and quite sharp. I like how the lighting is captured too.

Thanks a lot. If you shoot a lot of B&W and anything that requires a discrete great street camera if you can afford one it really doesn't get better in the digital world at this point in time.

That's incredible. Love it, especially after struggling within the confines of the M8's limitations. Nice shots.

Thanks and yes the low light performance of the MM is amazing.

Heres 6400 ISO. No noise reduction from a corporate function I shot a while back

And just a test at 10,000 ISO again no noise reduction applied.
