This was an odd opportunity. Normally I'd ignore something I had to crop this much, but the leaves especially were intriguing. I didn't go as far with the contrast as some suggestions I had, since the much brighter flowers would steal the scene from the leaves. f4.0, 1/360 handheld, ISO 320.

I see what you're trying to do; give equal play to the flowers and the leaves with the intricate detail. As for contrast... A matter of personal taste. I tend to prefer more contrasty images. If you play with the curve, you can increase contrast without over-brightening the flowers. It would also make the veins in the leaves pop a bit more.

I reposted (to my website) the linked image twice now, each time increasing the contrast. I can't say how much closer to the more common and contrasty images the newest version here gets, but it's a big improvement over the original.

BTW, my IE8 browser on Win7-64 caches these images, and oftentimes after upgrading one of them on the website, I click to view it and don't see a difference because the browser makes like it's reloading it but doesn't. On the PC I just click refresh, but on iPads I have to click on the address bar and then click GO to refresh.
