I thought about posting to Leica Q section, but didn't want to pollute it with this many images. So figured I'll post it here. Besides this section has been way too quiet!!!

Anyway, I visited the glasshouses of local university botanical gardens few days ago with my family. It was a fun visit and even my 4 year old daughter enjoyed it, since they had hidden Christmas elves between the plants. She spent her time "hunting" for them

I had my Leica Q with me along with a monopod and SF-58 flash. I played around with the macro setting as well.. Lighting was horrible combined with the flash, so WB is a hit and miss. Should have taken a whibal card with me!

Enjoy:

Thanks guys!

This was my first real attempt at shooting various plants and flowers. Composition is by far the hardest part.. I think there's still a long way to go in that sense, but all in all I'm quite happy with these myself.

Also depth of field is something I need to get under control when using the macro function. Especially the 2nd last photo is something where ultimately I would have liked a deeper dof. Live & learn :)

Technically I think the Q & SF58 combo worked very nice. I hardly ever use flash, but still managed to get these done. And though it's a big flash unit, it didn't feel too awkward with the Q equipped with grip. Also nice was that it didn't cause any probs with the lens shade!

The Q has some pretty smooth bokeh for a 28mm lens, doesn't it? Nice photos!
