i guess it all depends on what you 'saw', how you intended to interpret it and how 'true to form' you like the image on screen to represent reality and your intended interpretations. for me personally, i like the composition, the shimmer from the water and the deep blacks of the trees in your image. as a new starter to this 'digi-processing' thing, i would perhaps compensate for the lack of 'sharpness' and try to replicate film IR by adjusting white balance and softening the highlights. now, it may not please the 'purists' out there but i've been cheeky and taken the liberty ->

Are you printing it out huge? I just don't get the pixel peeping.

Hi,
I like the photo; if I may suggest, try converting it to B&W and darkening the image a bit, or at least on the edges of the image. This should cause the viewer to focus more on the highlight of the water, adding a bit more contrast and drama to the image.
Just my 2 cents worth.
