Any other fans of the Canon FD system, especially the A-1 out there?

This was the first camera I bought for myself. I worked after school hours on end and bought it from Abe's Camera of Maine (when they were actually in Maine, and not Brooklyn). The body and FD 50mm f/1.8 lens set me back a grand total of $191 or so, if memory serves (I still have the receipt somewhere, actually).

Some shots of it, along with the FD 50mm f/1.2L:

I've kept most of my Canon FD system, but it sees very occasional use these days. I have my dad's A-1 from the first year of production (1979), AE-1 Program, AT-1, TX and a set of FD lenses. I used to own a T90 but that is long gone.

If you bought your A-1 for $191 you got a great deal. In 1981 I paid $215 for an AE-1 with a 50mm 1.8 from a store in LA. I recall that the A-1 (which my dad owned at the time) was a fair bit more expensive. That AE-1 met its untimely death by drowning (Hurricane Hugo in 1989).

Here are some not very artistic shots of my Canon kit:

What a beautiful set, Antonio! Wow.

Yes, $191 was a great deal; as I recall, I shopped around quite a bit in the back of magazines where all the ads are. I got it from Abes Cameras and Electronics of Maine - when they were still actually in Maine (they're in Brooklyn now). I worked part time after high school for some time to buy it - it was MY first camera (that I bought for myself).
