It's been about a YEAR since I was last on vacation. Long weekends don't count! And now, especially after getting beaten down by a hurricane and a nor'easter... Finally, in two weeks... It's time to hit the "happiest place on Earth." Walt Disney World! Of course, I've been there a million times in my life, but it never gets old. And the older I get, the more I enjoy it for another reason... Photography. Some past galleries...

Walt Disney World 2007

In three weeks, I'll have more. First time at WDW with a Leica. I will NOT miss dragging around a Canon 1D2n with 24-70mm zoom. Though it is quick to shoot and can take a beating...

Should be a literal weight off your shoulders to bring the M9 instead of the Canon. What lenses are you taking?

Oh, you have no idea, LOL! :D

Last time I brought a Canon 1D2N, 16-35, 24-70 and 70-200, 35 1.4, flash and a bunch of other doodads. Ridiculous! By the end of the first day I couldn't carry it anymore. I then trimmed down the bag leaving the 70-200 at the hotel, saving it solely for AK. The prime I also took out and the flash, saving those for evenings. Even still, it was nuts.

This time I'm bringing the M9, and the Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH, Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH and Elmarit-M 90mm f/2.8. The Tele-Elmar-M 135mm f/4 won't be worth it, even for AK I'm thinking. I'm debating something really wide but compact - the Color Skopar 21mm f/4 (since I don't expect much use). No flash. ;)

The parks are in a weird spot right now - in between the summer and holiday seasons. Figures, the week I'll be there they won't be open as late as they have been - or will be. MK will be open late one day and Epcot sort of late another. So not worth dragging the Noctilux down for... :p

Still debating the 21 and 135. I have to admit, I like the simplicity and light weight of three lenses. Other than batteries and SD cards what more do you really need?

I'd think those three are probably enough, but the 21 could bring an interesting perspective and some fun. It can always be left behind at the hotel even though the weight is insignificant compared to the other three lenses you're bringing

I love taking photos, but to some extent it doesn't matter what you take! Bearing in mind what you and the rest of New York have been through, just enjoy the time with the ones you love. I'm sure the photos will be just great as they always are.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking. Bring it along and leave it at the hotel if necessary. The 21 is inconsequential, but the 135 would definitely be an AK-only affair.

Very true, Bob, very true. Gotta take time to smell the roses as it were.

Simple it is! As tempting as the 135 might've been, or the Noctilux even (as an only lens)... I'm going with the 21 (no finder), 28, 50 and 90. No flash. No tripod. ND filter. UV for protection on wet attractions (and a whole garbage bag for the rapids). Threw the polarizer in the backpack just in case. Usual batteries, SD cards, charger, lens cleaning supplies. All in a Retrospective 5 with room to spare... And it weighs next to nothing.

:D Saaaweeeeeet!

Back! The lens choices were spot on. The 28 and 50 saw almost all of the action, and the 21 and 90 saw just enough to make them worthwhile (but could've lived without). Guess I'm not surprised there.

Ended up shooting a ridiculous number of images. :D

Looking forward to seeing the results. But as long as the kids had fun...the photos will be memorable
