So I went for a quick getaway this past weekend to Newport, Rhode Island. It wasn't a photo trip, so the shots are more of a "touristy" than studied variety. And if nothing else, proves that Leica glass can be shot stopped down, too...

* A little funny; I saw the Caribbean Princess cruise ship there on Saturday, which is the same ship SHP's group is on there today. I might've passed a bunch of you on the streets. I cruised on that ship twice - albeit in the Caribbean.

So without further ado; various shots around Newport including the downtown area and mansions. All shot on the M9 with minimal post-processing in most cases.

You can see the entire gallery here.

What a wonderful series of photos. The one of the white paneled house really jumps out at me. A city unlike anything west of Chicago where everything man made is so new by comparison.

Thanks a lot, Alex! Newport is really cool that way - it was a major 18th century port city, and contains among the highest number of surviving colonial buildings of any city in the US - besides all the famous mansions... I hit the Marble House, Rosecliff, Breakers and Kingscote. Some of them owned by the Vanderbilts (e.g. Cornelius created Breakers). Kingscote is one of the last surviving gothic houses in all of the US.
