These shots were produced with a pre-production (and well-traveled) SLR Magic Hyperprime 50mm T0.95 lens on an M9.

Many more shots forthcoming as we're doing a full review of this lens along with a shoot-out between it, the Noctilux and Nokton. Stay tuned!

I look forward to the review. I'd be interested to see some side by side comparisons with the Noctilux, because from what I've seen so far they don't look as close as many people are claiming

You and me both, actually. First impressions? I think you're right. It seems to have a penchant for "swirly bokeh" (which I happen to dig). But I'll withhold getting ahead of myself... We'll definitely have a shoot-out between the Noctilux, Nokton and Hyperprime - and possibly the Summilux as a "control" lens.

Mechanically, I will say they are rather similar (size/weight notwithstanding). The Hyperprime is built very well - it has a similar "feel" quality-wise and the controls nicely damped. One thing that's worth pointing out is the aperture ring - being a cine lens adaptation - does not have detents. So shooting in the dark (or sight-unseen) by counting clicks is not going to happen.

I like the swirly bokeh too, but it can be achieved with a $300 Summitar; for $4000+ I'd prefer something a little less distracting. Either way interesting first impressions, I eagerly await your review.

Some more random shots. Apparently the lens has a slight front-focus. Will probably have to swap out for another one to properly test. Enjoy!

Unless this is the same lens tested by others about a month ago I think several might have some front focus issues, because every wide open shot at Huff seemed to miss focus
