How is it that, without the 6 bit coding, the ZEISS ZM lenses pull up the correct frame lines?

The frame lines are brought up mechanically by the mount. That's why you see for example, LTM/M adapters for 28/90, 35/135 and 50/75. Depending on which frame lines are brought up determines what you can code your lens as and the combination is required to properly code.

Ahh....

Got it.

I just couldn't see how the mount would do that thru the three different lenses.
I forget the mechanical aspects of the Leica.
