Hi looking for some member help.
I occasionally get an orange line showing on shots taken with my M240. (examples attached)
It has happened with different cards so suspect it may be a camera fault.
Any suggestions?
Cheers
John

First thought was to try different cards, just to rule that out... At this point, may be a sensor issue. Strange that it only happens occasionally though.

Looks like dead pixel to me. Had the same thing with my Monochrom last year, intermittent vertical line, camera had to go back to Germany to get the sensor remapped. Got the camera back in just over 3 weeks.

If it is either a dead or hot pixel it can be remapped. If in the US Leica New Jersey can do it.

That's not a "dead" pixel or a "hot" pixel.

If it was, it would be ONE pixel. Not a line. Something more serious going on there. I'd say a trip to the shop is in order.

In the case of Leica a hot or dead pixel kills the whole line. All it needs is a remap.

Remember, the CCD is read in columns - not as individual pixels. Remapping essentially applies a logical operation or bit sequence to the data, so as to negate a hot pixel.

DN: The op said problem with M240 -> that's CMOS, not CCD.

Still, not arguing with the dead/hotel pixel theory. This has long been the typical thing with Leica. Who knows, maybe the CMOSIS sensor does the same thing or it's due to reflections from microprisms or whatever..

In any case, trip to Leica is in order. They'll sort it out. And for the dake of argument, send them few sample photos with the line visible!

My bad. Had M9 on the brain.

Had the same issue and also camera lockup. Leica NJ did a image sensor replacement, pixel column restoration, cmosis circuit board (replacement?), shutter replacement, checked metering system, and a new leatherette. Camera has been working with no issues and it took them 3 weeks. Free of charge.

Edit: in my case the vertical line was not a clean line, it was a bit spotty and had uneven edges. This was intermittent, can't replicate but it just happens randomly. When it occurs it will take several shots with the line. Sometimes turning the camera on and off multiple times will solve the issue.

When this line typically occurs, the camera will sometime go into lock up mode. The entire screen is black. Live view shows nothing but black, shots fired will record as empty black frames on the SD card. I have also tested on various cards and capacities and this issue still occurs. Also tried reformatting cards, resetting camera and reinstalling firmware. None of this solves the issue. So send it in the Leica with a note and reference DNGs
