Ok,

I have no intention of buying any new computers anytime soon. However, the iPad may be a tool that will facilitate my photography business. It seems to be limited in some areas. So, the question is, iPad or MacAir, both of which will fit in the Billingham Pro bag.

Any experienced users can help out here! :)

I use both (sort of) - an iPad and a MacBook Pro.

It comes down to what you want to do with it, really. I'd say an iPad is more of a media consumption device, whereas a proper notbook is more of a media creation device.

Where the iPad really excels is ultimate portability. It's great for travel, backing up photos, email, visiting forums like La Vida Leica (hehe), etc.

Okay, this may be a limitation:

Can you pull this up on the iPad?

I use the iPad and a MacBook Pro as well.

I use the iPad to display shots to the clients so they can pick the ones they want right in the field.

The forums all work on the iPad as well.

Banking, email, Citrix VPN stuff....all EXCEPT Flash Video Player.

I just checked the Adorama link - won't work on "iDevices" due to lack of Flash support.

Though I'm not sure that will be a limitation much longer; Adobe has heard (and felt) the uproar in general about Flash and is moving to HTML5 along with the rest of the world...

Personally, I think the world will be a better place without Flash anyway. ;)
