Through multiple sources, we have confirmed that a Lenny Kravitz edition camera is coming now official (see below), and will drop in February. We don't know much more at this point, other than it will likely be a brass/brassed finish and nowhere near as cool as the Leica MP pictured below. He is of course, a Leica shooter and published a book called "Flash" which you can pre-order.

Update (02/12/15):

It seems we now have our first glimpses of this camera (which we have confirmed as legit)... Yes, it's a faux "aged" Leica M-P (Type 240) with two similarly treated black paint lenses - a Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH and an (E43 v2) Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH - with case. Only 125 sets will be produced and each camera set will look unique.

  • All black lacquered outer parts exhibit surfaces on which, particularly at the edges, the black lacquering discloses the bare metal underneath, which is usually only the case after years of heavy use
  • Of the camera and lens finishes are individually handcrafted and as a result no part is exactly the same as the next
  • The LEICA Summilux-M 50mm/f1.4 ASPH. shows the classic outer design of 1959 with the then typical, highly profiled distance setting ring. Its optical design is that of the present model though
  • The lens hoods for both lenses show the classic outer design made of metal. The body cap as well as the lenses´ front and rear caps are also metal
  • The camera and case cladding as well as the outer sides of the carrying strap and wrist loop is/are made of water snake leather. The snakes come from non-endangered and controlled sources.
  • The set will be delivered in an handcrafted case which is made in Germany. All metal parts of the case will get the typical finish which is usually only the case after years of heavy use, too.
  • The set is strictly limited to 125 units
  • All technical data of the camera and the lenses are identical to the serial versions

The Leica Camera AG, Wetzlar, presents in collaboration with musician, actor and designer Lenny Kravitz a special edition camera before: the LEICA MP Set "CORRESPONDENT" BY LENNY KRAVITZ DESIGN FOR KRAVITZ. The edition includes the digital rangefinder camera Leica MP and two bright classic among the Leica lenses - the Leica Summicron-M 1: 2/35 mm ASPH. and the Leica Summilux-M 1: 1.4 / 50mm ASPH. - To be delivered in a custom case. The special edition is limited worldwide to a figure of 125 sets, and available in March 2015 for a suggested retail price of 22,500 euros per set.

Background of working with Lenny Kravitz is the passion of the artist to photography. His first camera was the Leicaflex his father, which was given to him at age 21 from him. In line with this, now many years old Leica camera, the LEICA MP Set "CORRESPONDENT" BY LENNY KRAVITZ FOR DESIGN KRAVITZ, which is characterized by a distinctive product design arose. The Leica MP provides all the technical benefits of the digital Leica rangefinder system, is still typical for the M-System product properties such as durability and ruggedness. The two Leica lenses include high optical performance and deployment flexibility to the essential characteristics.
