Leica Updates S and S2/S2-P Firmware

Today Leica has released new firmware updates for the Leica S (v2.3.0.0) and the Leica S2/S2-P (v1.3.0.0). Users who wish to update their camera can download the new firmware from the Owner's Area. Both firmware updates provide support for the new Leica Elmarit-S 45 mm f/2.8 ASPH (CS) lens and ensure optimal functionality of this lens when used with Leica S, S2 or S2-P cameras.

The Leica S Firmware Update also offers the following refinements for the S camera:

  • Improved support for tethered shooting in compressed DNG format.
  • The flash trigger signal is now passed to the flash contact at all shutter speeds.
  • User settings for bracketing series and the self-timer can now be stored in a user profile. They also remain active after removing and reattaching the camera.
  • The color temperature of the LCD screen has been optimized.
  • Korean has been added as a menu language.
  • Bugs reported by users, such as the AF behavior of the Leica Vario-Elmar-S 30-90 mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH been corrected.
