First Leica M lens, it combines the speed of 1.4 with the popular standard focal length of 28 millimeters. It is thus for reportage photography, but also for architecture and landscape photography, ideal for use in all lighting situations. The high opening in this focal length range makes for a unique visual effect. Thanks to extreme sharpness in the focal plane and shallow depth of field can be the subject crystal clear turn out and there are shots with a distinctive visual language.

The Leica M-Summilux 1: 1.4 / 28mm ASPH. offers outstanding imaging performance over the entire focusing range, a high contrast rendering even the finest structures and excellent reproduction of details across the entire image field. For the picture quality at close range, a floating element ensures: The lenses behind the aperture together form a floating group that changes its position relative to the front group during focusing. Three cemented elements and seven lenses with anomalous partial dispersion ensure the excellent color correction of the lens. The contrast curve is continuous both in the infinity position and at close range and has over the image field virtually no performance degradation.

Overall, the Leica Summilux-M 1 is: 1.4 / 28 mm ASPH. ten lenses, including an aspherical, deviating from the spherical shape lens surface that makes an important contribution to the extremely compact design of the lens.
