Kristian Dowling Talks with Alfred Schopf/Sunil Kaul

At The Digital Show 2013 in Melbourne, Australia our friend Kristian Dowling was lucky enough to meet up with Leica Camera CEO, Alfred Schopf and Leica Camera Managing Director of Asia Pacific, Sunil Kaul. They not only exhibited six of his pictures taken with the Leica M (type 240) at the event, but gave him a chance to ask a few questions. They cover the direction of Leica, the new Leica C camera, the new factory and even mentioned the APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH issue that we covered.

It's a short piece, but well worth a read, as there's a lot of interesting and timely information. Some highlights include:

  • Leica M (Type 240) shooters especially like the familar handling, higher ISO and Live View capabilities
  • Leica aims to stick to their core values; superb optics, optimizing sensors and ease of use
  • Alfred Schopf publicly acknowledged the APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH issue
  • They aim to move Customer Care into the new facilities by the end of the year
  • ...and plan to move production some time around late May of 2014
  • ...Which celebrates 100 years of Leica, 60 years of the M-System and their new factory
  • More product announcements and Photokina to look forward to!
