Many will sit on the sidelines in re: M262, myself included, with the rumors of an M10 humming about. After almost 2 years with a MM v.1, I'm beginning to miss color.

^ the guestions then is, why? There's hardly anything that new M10 can offer that would warrant the wait.. if I didn't have M262 already, I'd probably jump on M-D. After that it would be really hard to persuade any kind of upgrade.

Right now decent iso up to 3200, fast lenses, good handling and enough dr & mp to get massive prints.

So what else is needed? Iso 50k max and 12k very useable.. but can you focus rangefinder 0.95 or 1.4 50mm in darkness that needs iso 12k?

When have you last had a situation where any decent digital cam runs out of DR in a way where it actually hurts a photo?

So in all practical means, there's very little that can be done to enhance the current M262 based cameras.

Why? I want an EVF that isn't a toy and with which I can use my dormant R lenses or accurately focus fast lenses in the darkness.

That would be called Leica SL and is available already. Has probably the best EVF in the market, works fantastic with R-lenses, high iso etc etc.. basically everything except rangefinder & M-size.

If I wanted something other than a rangefinder, I'd have gotten an a7 long ago.

in your shoes I would probably get two cameras. A used M9 on the cheap for RF needs and the SL for R-lenses and such.

It would be optimal to have all-in-one, but the likelyhood is that any new M to come won't be excellent at both RF and SLR. It will be mostly rangefinder with some SLR capabilities.

The M9 with sensor replacement would be an excellent choice for available light rf use with fast lenses. Or if sufficient funds, the M262 with SL - but then your wallet needs to be full like an ATM, it's serious money territory.

Nice on several levels: composition, timing, color contrasts, expressions. By the by...there's a new book out by Alex Webb called Calle, which features his work done in Mexico over a long period of time. I don't have it yet, but I'm probably going to buy a copy.
